The man and the flame part 2
One day after making his home with the flame the man left to help another friend. Whilst away the man thought of nothing else but his companion the flame. When the man returned though he found that the flame had destroyed his home, he tried to find out why but he couldn't find the flame anywhere. So much anguish filled the man's heart that he wandered back to where he met the flame.
He sat by the brook feeling miserable for himself, eventually as all the villagers and animals who came to drink at the brook they saw the man in such agony. They all tried to cheer him up, they told him of how great his life was without the flame, and how if the flame could abandon him in such a way that it wasn't the flame he thought it was. It all began to sink in, but the man was still feeling sorry for himself, when another man arrived and sat next to him. The new man was large and full of life and he began telling the man about all he had seen. The new man was a Pirate, and he knew that the other man had once considered himself a man of the sea. So the Pirate made a deal with the man, he promised there would be as many flames as there were fish in the sea, and that one of those flames would burn brighter with him then any other had in the past. The pirate then took off his coat, hat, and unbuckled his saber. He gave them to the man. The man was taken aback until the pirate told him, that it was best now if he said this sea alone......
So the man donned the coat and hat, and buckled the cutlass to his side, bid fairwell to the old pirate and found his way to the ship. On the ship he found a bird, a bird of new beginings, a bird who had know many flames, but found the greatest fire to be within.
The man thanked the bird, but did not know how to light the fire within, the bird suddenly lurched forward and collided with the man, but when man and bird met only the man remained. The bird had merged with the man, now the man could do what he needed to do...
He set sail that afternoon, into the setting sun and the shimmering sea. As he did he felt his body come alive with fire, stepping from the ashes of his old life, the man was born again.
Alive and Free,
Captain Mike lives again........
"Yo ho Yo ho a Pirates life for me...."
